At one point in my life I found myself compromising a lot. But it never benefited me. It was always for the sake of the other person and I never ended up happy. All because "we" wanted to "compromise."
But was I really compromising or was I setting myself up for failure and allowing myself to be unhappy.
See I think that compromise is a word that is used lightly and to permit double standards.
And that doesn't surprise me since it has two meanings.
- As a noun it means, a settlement of differences by mutual concessions; an agreement reached by adjustment of conflicting or opposing claims, principles, etc., by reciprocal modification of demands.
- As a verb it means, to expose or make vulnerable to danger, suspicion, scandal, etc.
So...
Would you compromise your happiness for someone elses ?
Or would you worry about your well being, your safety, and your happiness and just let them be unhappy ?
